This session deals with resilience of road pavements. In this session four diverse congress papers will be presented. In Canada, a tool was developed to predict pavement response and performance resulting from projected climate changes. In the USA, the FHWA identified best practices for assessing and incorporating future climate conditions and resilience considerations into pavement design, rehabilitation, and maintenance. A study about the combined action of frost penetration and axle loading will be presented from Canada due to findings that climate change has impacted frost penetration cycles. Finally, a paper from Slovakia that deals with the influence of winter maintenance on asphalt pavements will be presented.
